OpenSSL Vulnerability – Update Required

Security

OpenSSL identified a high-risk vulnerability over the weekend and released a patch on November 1st. If you are running OpenSSL on any platform (highly likely), you’ll need to run an update to ensure your connections and infrastructure remain secure. Note: this only affects the OpenSSL library, you do not need to update your SSL certificate(s).

Update immediately if you’re running OpenSSL version 3.0.0 through 3.0.6.

Version update information: https://www.openssl.org/source/.

Changes to .eu Terms and Conditions

Domains

EURid, the registry manager of the .eu, .ею (Cyrillic) and .ευ (Greek) top-level domains has modified its Terms and Conditions for the following reasons:

  • to comply with the new legal framework for .eu domain names (Regulation 2019/517 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19 March 2019 and its accompanying Acts).
  • to make the new Terms and Conditions clearer and more accessible by combining the existing Terms and Conditions and Registration Policy into one document.

The new Terms and Conditions are available on EURid’s website (https://eurid.eu/en/other-infomation/document-repository/) and we encourage you to read the new Terms and Conditions in full.

The new Terms and Conditions will take effect from 13 October 2022 and by keeping and renewing your domain name(s), you confirm having read and accepted the modified terms and conditions.

If you do not agree with the new Terms and Conditions, you may choose to delete your domain name(s) before the effective date via your registrar, i.e. the company with whom you have registered your domain name(s).

No More File-Based DCV for Wildcards

SSL Certificates

Adapting to Industry Changes for Better Web Security
The CA/B Forum has voted on removing the file-based domain control validation (DCV) method for Wildcard certificates (e.g. *.domain.com) starting Dec. 1, 2021. So why the update?

The change was created in response to the concern that host-based control validation isn’t a strong enough way to demonstrate that someone has control over a domain’s entire namespace. Ultimately, this change improves security for subdomains and therefore, web users overall.

To be prepared and acclimated before the official start date, major CA’s such as DigiCert and Sectigo, will no longer allow file-based DCV for Wildcard certificates starting Nov. 15. After that, users can only use email and DNS validation methods to perform DCV for Wildcards.

We offer wide range of certificates from major certificate authorities: RapidSSL, GeoTrust, Thawte, Sectigo (formerly Comodo), Certum, Symantec.

You can buy a Certificate not only to protect any server or hosting that is provided by us, but for any other services/servers that you use from different providers. You can also order SSL installation service from us to get your Certificate installed correctly.

Summary of the year

News

The year is ending, and it’s time to take stock and talk about plans.

First, thank you for your trust! We continue to maintain the high quality of our services and are working to increase the reliability and security.

We are always happy to offer you:

What will change in the new year?

Starting March 1, prices for hosting services will rise slightly. Simple and Basic packages will rise in price by 0.50€, Pro package by 1.25€. The price of the Developer package will rise by 5€. In addition, the payment system commission will be added to the invoice amount.

Our prices have remained unchanged since 2010, which cannot be said about the cost of electricity and other services. It was a difficult decision. However, despite the increase, our prices are still lower than the prices of our competitors. New prices are already valid from September 1 for new customers. Starting from March 1 the new prices will apply for all customers.

Outdated versions of PHP

We remind you that the time for us to abandon the outdated versions of PHP is drawing nearer. We hope you have not forgotten and made sure that all your web sites support PHP 7.2 and higher. Changes

Until the end of this year, we will expand the resources of existing servers. From January we will get a higher speed on all available servers.

We expect to launch a new shared hosting by the beginning of the Q2, which will meet modern requirements and give you new opportunities.

We wish you a good, productive New Year!
